A Day on the Reef
Executive chefs and purchasing managers of Cairns and Port Douglas recently enjoyed a full day fishing on the Great Barrier Reef with Pantacchini’s. These trips were proudly sponsored by Pantacchini’s and some of our valued suppliers.
There were 4 planned trips; one with Steve on Monday 27 November out of Port Douglas, one with Charlie on Sunday 3 December and one with Martin on Monday 4 December 2006.

Unfortunately due to adverse high winds, James’s planned trip for Sunday 10 December was cancelled. But that didn’t cancel the fun, with James’s group heading to the Smithfield go–kart track for some exhilarating laps after a light lunch and beverages. Unfortunately no photographs survived the go–karting.
For those who were able head out to the reef, they enjoyed a full day of mingling, sun, cold beer, snacks... oh, and of course fishing, with Trevally, Large Mouth Nannagai and Coral Trout making appearances on hooks. Some of the largest fish caught out of all 3 trips went to Khalil Smith, the executive chef of the Mercure Harbourside who caught a whopping 10 pound coral trout. Check it out!! Our own Charlie Osmond caught a pearler of a Red Emperor, which kicked the scales at over 25 pound!!
We would like to thank all those who attended on the day and hope you had an enjoyable time. Also a big thank you to our proud sponsors who helped make the day happen. Major sponsors were Sealord, Tassal, Cleanseas and Simplot and other sponsors were Tasmanian Quality Foods, Spring Bay Seafoods, Tasea and Pacific West.
